jaxon turns 3

i am still behind, so bear with me.

i'll try to catch up quickly. =)

march 10th kicks off our "birthday season".

from march 10th-april 8th, we celebrated 

9 birthdays in our family.

for his "big gift", we decided

to kill two birds with one stone

and get him something he really

needed anyway--

a big boy bed.

i was stupidly excited as i was

waiting for him to come in his room.

i was all geared up for his big reaction.

without a reaction at all,

he promptly climbed up onto his bed

and opened his gifts from his siblings.

he was excited about spiderman socks,

stoked about spiderman sunglasses,

and even grinned over "boy chapstick".

at one point, he finally stood up and yelled,

"i'm excited about my big boy bed!"

and that was about the extent of it.

a little anticlimactic, but that's ok.

 

that afternoon, we threw a small party for him.

i went all out for the kids' parties last year

and i just wasn't up to it this year...

luckily they don't care. =)

he got to wear his spiderman pajamas

and he got cowboy boots, a race track,

a spiderman doll and other things that just made his day.

mommy made a cake from scratch and daddy decorated it.

simple and sweet.

it was a good day.
