when i was pregnant with ali,
i was convinced she was a boy.
everyone was...except for jason.
at first, i was disappointed,
but only because i had convinced myself
that i was carrying a son for my husband.
once i had two girls,
i thought i was perfectly fine with
only having girls....
but soon, before i was ever pregnant
for the third time, i began praying for a son.
a son for my husband.
a son to carry on the family name.
a son that would bless me more than i knew.
as special as a mother and son bond is,
i can't really explain what it's like
to watch son imitate father.
jaxon follows jason around,
doing what he does,
saying what he says,
wanting to wear what daddy wears.
he catches everything, things we don't even notice.
for that, i am thankful for such a wonderful, loving example.
they fix fences, feed the goats and chickens,
wrestle, play football and run errands.
jaxon rejoices when his daddy gets home
from work each day, his smile radiating
and eyes full of admiration.
(this is what happens when i tell jax to smile)
max is getting older,
and already i am seeing this bond develop
again between father and son,
just like it has with jason and jaxon.
i never knew having boys
would melt my heart like it does.
